# Connecting Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus

**Apica Ascent** Supports **Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus** data source which is a Prometheus-compatible monitoring and alerting service that makes it easy to monitor containerized applications and infrastructure at scale.

With Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, you can use the open-source Prometheus query language (**PromQL**) to monitor and alert on the performance of containerized workloads, without having to scale and operate the underlying infrastructure.

The service is integrated with Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), and AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry.

Now let us see how it works in brief with the help of an Image

### Create the Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus (AMP) Data Source

Head over to the *Data Sources* in settings. Settings can be accessed by clicking on the user name on the left navigation bar. The first step is to create the data source by clicking **Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus.**

That is all! Now Read about how to query Prometheus data in the [PromQL](/observe/prometheus/querying-data.md) section.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.apica.io/observe/prometheus/connecting-amazon-managed-service-for-prometheus.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
